The folks at the Google I/O are still teasing the crowds with the availability of the latest update to the Android operating system, version 2.2 Froyo (which stands for frozen yogurt). We already know some of the core features of the new OS; still, it is hard to deny that the new native Flash and AIR support is the largest features for the operating system. A great place to look for Android mobile phone deals is online. Places like Best Mobile Contracts are also good for finding mobile phone with free gifts.
Of course, there is much more to Froyo than just Flash support. It has also been revealed that the new OS has been completely optimized and streamlined to run faster. In fact, it runs about 2.5x times faster than the older 2.1 Éclair OS. This is mostly due to the presence of the new Dalvit JIT Compiler. Speaker of better performance, the web browser on the Android has also been updated. JavaScript now loads faster thanks to the V8 JS engine which allows for twice to three times the speed of the older browser as well.
A new cloud to device API will allow users to transfer their work from computer to the Android phone instantly (depending on the software being used obviously) as well as a new data backup API which will make quick on-the-fly backups possible (provided users have good battery life). Of course, Google is also expanding the Android’s reach. They have announced that the Google App Engine for business will be expanded even further (a major move for Google to venture into the business market –Apple has already started as well). It has also been stated that the Android market will be expanded and a new web browser store will also be established.
As exciting as the new 2.2 Froyo is, Google has also announced that they are already working on the next Android, version 3.0 Gingerbread (the Gingerbread version will sport HTML5 support as well as browser to phone app installations).
