Sony Ericsson Vivaz

by admin on Aug.04, 2010, under cell phones, compare phones, mobile, mobile accessories, mobile games, mobile news, mobile phones, mobile reviews

The Sony Ericsson Vivaz is a smartphone with a difference. It’s packed with features and samples some of the latest in connectivity technology. The handset itself was announced by Sony Ericsson back on 21st January 2010, followed by its initial release on 5th March 2010.

It immediately became available in a series of different colour schemes, including Moon Silver, Cosmic Black, Galaxy Blue, and Venus Ruby. The handset itself has an extremely sleek and compact design, with a variety of features spread over a number of functions, some of which include photography, HD video recording, music playback, and Internet connectivity. As for the specifics, there’s a high quality camera (capable of recording HD video, as mentioned) on the back, which isn’t protected by any bulky slider – it’s sits, nicely tucked away, next to the LED flashlight, which can be used for enhancing lighting in dark surroundings. Elsewhere, at the side of the phone, much of the handsets functionality can be controlled from four buttons. One of these buttons controls the camera features, another controls the video features (start/stop etc), another is for actually taking pictures (once the camera setting has been activated on screen), and the last it for either changing the volume, or zooming in and out (again, depending on which feature has been selected). On the opposite side of the phone is a Micro-B USB slot, for both charging, and connecting to a computer (to upload/download files etc), however, this slot is covered. The front of the phone is dominated by the 3.2 inch highly resistive touchscreen, with a 360×640 resolution, and below this touchscreen are three buttons, green (left), white (center) and red (right). Software-wise, the Vivaz uses the Symbian operating system.

It also uses the PlayNow service, Sony Erricson’s mobile content platform. In addition to the usual GPRS/UMTS/EDGE connectivity, the Sony Ericsson Vivaz features WiFi and Bluetooth, therefore users can send emails instantly, browse the web at super-speeds, stream the latest chart hits, watch the latest movie trailers, and access their personal social networking page from just about anywhere.

Google Phones

With Apple and Blackberry seemingly dominating the smartphone market, it is Internet giants Google, the largest technology cooperation in the world, who have thrown their hat into the ring, and developed a smartphone to rival the best.

The Nexus One (codenamed HTC Passion) is a smartphone with a difference. It uses the Android open source mobile operating system, which is already creating waves in the industry. The device was actually manufactured by Taiwan’s HTC Corporation, and became available to the public on Janaury 5th 2010, a seminal day in smartphone history.

Some of the key features of the Nexus One are its ability to transcribe voice to text – which means users can speak into the phone and automatically have their words translated into a text message, noise cancelling dual microphones, and GPS guided voice directions for drivers (similar to the high-end navigational systems available on the market now). Another interesting point of note about the Nexus One is that the device is sold unlocked, and therefore not restricted to any specific network, however, Google currently offer the phone for use on the T-Mobile and AT&T networks in the US, and a Vodafone version has been announced for European users. The Nexus One will also be fully upgradeable to the new 2.2 version of Android so users don’t have to worry about purchasing an already out-of-date phone. With the new update, the Nexus One will be able to play all Flash content (when Adobe releases the Flash Player 10.1), and Android-based phones have access to more than 50,000 applications through the Android Market, which is evidently becoming a direct rival of Apple’s App Store. The ‘apps’ market is something smartphone manufacturers have been trying to tap into for some time. With Google’s in-depth understanding of smartphone development and the needs of its market, they’re service is a serious rival to Apple’s.

The folks at the Google I/O are still teasing the crowds with the availability of the latest update to the Android operating system, version 2.2 Froyo (which stands for frozen yogurt). We already know some of the core features of the new OS; still, it is hard to deny that the new native Flash and AIR support is the largest features for the operating system. A great place to look for Android mobile phone deals is online. Places like Best Mobile Contracts are also good for finding mobile phone with free gifts.

Of course, there is much more to Froyo than just Flash support. It has also been revealed that the new OS has been completely optimized and streamlined to run faster. In fact, it runs about 2.5x times faster than the older 2.1 Éclair OS. This is mostly due to the presence of the new Dalvit JIT Compiler. Speaker of better performance, the web browser on the Android has also been updated. JavaScript now loads faster thanks to the V8 JS engine which allows for twice to three times the speed of the older browser as well.

A new cloud to device API will allow users to transfer their work from computer to the Android phone instantly (depending on the software being used obviously) as well as a new data backup API which will make quick on-the-fly backups possible (provided users have good battery life). Get the latest HTC Wildfire deals and deals for other Android phones online.

Of course, Google is also expanding the Android’s reach. They have announced that the Google App Engine for business will be expanded even further (a major move for Google to venture into the business market –Apple has already started as well). It has also been stated that the Android market will be expanded and a new web browser store will also be established.

As exciting as the new 2.2 Froyo is, Google has also announced that they are already working on the next Android, version 3.0 Gingerbread (the Gingerbread version will sport HTML5 support as well as browser to phone app installations).

Nokia N97 the worlds smallest portable computer!

by admin on Jan.17, 2010, under cell phones, compare phones, mobile, mobile accessories, mobile games, mobile news, mobile phones, mobile reviews, mobile search, mobile software, mobile stores, mobile world, online mobile, phone deals, used phones

Nokia N97The N97 seemed unusually light for a cell phone of that size. After I saw Nokia’s presentation of its new smartphone, I was really delighted with all its characteristics. I immediately fell in love with it and the same day got the chance to try it myself for couple of hours. This is not a cheap mobile phone ; this is the world’s smallest portable computer! Its large touch screen (almost as large as iPhone’s) is quite impressive and user-friendly, together with the powerful camera and storage that amounts up to 32 GB!

Although the phone seems to be intended for business users, it’s full of multimedia, I didn’t have any problems accessing Facebook or LinkedIn. Seems like Nokia really improved its Ovi and Mosh. Also, I noticed, because I also have an iPhone, that the touchscreen’s picture seems a bit sharper than theone on my iPhone. When I ran through N97’s specifications, I saw that its resolution is 640×360 pixels. Quite sharp, right? When I slid the phone, a large QWERTY pad appeared. Though I’m not really fan of QWERTY, I must admit that this one seemed almost extraordinarily easy to use. I didn’t have much time to “dig in deeper”, but with this that I say, I must say – iPhone? Bye bye!

Used cell phones as offered by caters

by admin on Jan.17, 2010, under cell phones, compare phones, mobile, mobile accessories, mobile games, mobile news, mobile phones, mobile reviews, mobile search, mobile software, mobile stores, mobile world, online mobile, phone deals, used phones

Used Cell PhonesIf you are going to buy a used cell phone directly from your provider that it is a harbinger of a cost-effective option rather than buying a spic and span phone set from them. Although you can easily get a refurbished cell phone from several resellers, it may be somewhat arduous and time consuming process in finding the set that comprises limited warranty on its advanced use.

And as prevails in the air, most varieties of mobile phones being bought in spin and span condition directly from carriers are sold as locked to that specific carters, which gives vent to that the internal software has been specifically configured to only detect the particular carrier. However it is quite simple to unlock the phone yet majority of carters is now in vogue to sell their used phone sets unlocked beforehand.

Yet another major advantage to buy your used cell phone world from the carter is that they generally offer packs in bundle. These bundle packs will include a number of accessories including car charger, a Bluetooth headset and carrying case which you presumably otherwise have to pay around $ 100-$150!

Although a major point to be considered that the customers looking for a nicest deal on used cell phones are generally best served by shipping from well-known third-party vendors, which are rather other from a specific provider.
